June 25th! I'll never forget the day when it was announced that Michael Jackson MIGHT be dead and the panic that swept the internet. Hysteria ensued when the rumors where confirmed as true. That was followed by a profound sense of sadness & disbelief after the reality of if settled in. At first, we all seemed to react and remember him in different ways that in the end all turned out to be the SAME!
It was as if we'd lost a family member - one that we weren't necessarily close to but who forever held a tender and special place in our heart. Maybe it was the fact that Michael Jackson was the closest we've ever had to royalty. I cannot begin to even try to express what the King of Pop meant to so many other people. I tried to express my own feelings that terrible day when he made his transition from this world into the next two years ago today: I WANT YOU BACK: MICHAEL JACKSON DEAD AT 50!
Read it! It won't take long! It's the perfect set-up for the following Jackson-related photographs:
(Back row: Katherine & Joe Jackson, Rebbie, Tito holding Randy, Jermaine. Front row: Michael, Marlon and LaToya)
This photo documents one of the very early professional gigs! It's also very early 60's. L-R, early band member Milford Hite on drums, Marlon on tambourine, Jermaine on guitar, Jackie in the middle, maybe that's Tito next to him but that's Michael on the bongos.
I'd say this was somewhere around 1966 when Jermaine (to the right and not shown) was still the lead singer.
Backstage at the Regal Theater in Chicago, 1968. Milford Hite was still with the group!
REST IN PEACE!
He was just as cute as a bug in the early days, he is still missed and I sure hope he has found the peace he looked for in his lifetime.
